This special day, a tradition spanning centuries in the Turkic world and the Middle East, is regarded as a time of abundance, health, and the fulfillment of wishes, based on the belief that Prophets Hızır and İlyas meet on Earth.

• Jumping Over Fire: People jump over fire to purify themselves from evil, wishing for health and good fortune.
• Making Wishes: Wishes are hung on rose bushes or released into water; this is a sign of belief that wishes will be carried to the heavens by Hızır.
