Hello everyone once again. I'm back at a pace that might make you say, "Didn't you just post last night? Why are you here again?"
Let's be honest: I came here to escape from code.
Today was the first day of my 28th year. I had no special plans to celebrate my birthday, but I certainly had no plans to work either. The night before, I went to bed thinking, "I'll quietly get up, watch something, and spend the whole day lying down."
I woke up in the morning because of the heat. After a bit of groaning and grumbling, I picked up my phone and started aimlessly scrolling through Instagram.
Then, out of nowhere, a video from an Indian guy appeared, explaining a GitHub repository called httpSMS. He was describing how it's possible to send SMS messages through an Android app.
Naturally, my first reaction was:
"Does this actually work, or are we being scammed somewhere along the line?"
I immediately rushed to AI. I asked a few questions and tried to understand the logic behind it. Then that dangerous sentence formed in my head:
"Well, if it works with an Android app, I could just build an APK called AhdGateway, hook all my websites to it via an API, and be done with it."
From that moment on, the rest of the day was effectively cancelled.
I started with "Let's ask the questions and sketch out a plan." Before I knew it, about seven hours later, the original goal of "sending SMS messages" had already evolved into "Since we've done this, why don't we add 2FA to the websites?"
For those unfamiliar with 2FA, I'm briefly referring to systems that enhance account security with a second step, such as an SMS or a verification code.
We sorted out the PHP side first. Then I said, "Let's bring this to AhdCode too."
And that was the point of no return.
In short, sometimes doing certain things is simply your destiny. The promises you make, like "I won't look at anything today, I'll just stay in bed," turn out to be sentences you utter only to break them later.
Despite everything, a small project emerged from a quiet, solitary day—one that genuinely excited me and brought me joy. For now, I don't really plan on releasing AhdGateway to the public.
Of course, if someone offers a good sum of money, we might reconsider all of our principles. 😀
Jokes aside, I sometimes say, "Staying at home doesn't suit me," but in terms of productivity, it doesn't quite seem that way. The real problem, I suppose, isn't a lack of productivity; it's not knowing when to stop.
Starting a day with the intention of reducing my screen time, only to end it buried in a screen once again, is hardly a shining example of planning. But that's how today went—nothing to be done about it.
Perhaps the lesson to be drawn from the first day of my 28th year is this: if I truly want to rest, I should avoid watching videos on the internet about new project ideas.
And I will most likely not follow that advice either.
Now that I've sufficiently exhausted everyone, it's time to wrap up this post. I wanted to have three posts this month; that's partly why I wrote it.
See you in the next post. Take care of yourselves!
