Today, we proudly commemorate the 106th anniversary of Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, marking the day when Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun on May 19, 1919, and launched the Turkish War of Independence.
This meaningful day is not only the beginning of our national liberation but also a powerful expression of Atatürk's trust in youth. It reflects his belief that the future of the Turkish Republic rests in the hands of the younger generations.
"O rising generation, the future is yours. We founded the Republic; it is you who will keep it alive."
— Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
Every year, this day is celebrated across Turkey with enthusiasm—youth parades, sports events, musical and theatrical performances, and tributes to Atatürk. Schools, universities, and public institutions organize programs that inspire pride, remembrance, and national unity.
As Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, we commemorate this special day with deep respect and gratitude. We remember with honor Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades who led the independence movement.
May this day continue to inspire our youth with courage, wisdom, and love for their country. Happy May 19 – Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day!
